marvens is great for greek food (but not as great as it used to be). Nostos on l'acadie can't be beat for quantity of food: the whole chicken is amazing and one easly feeds 4 hungry people! :) Also marathons is great for greek also.
And yes Kamdo is amazing and great for lunch, i've never been for supper.

Chicken is good at Nostos. The last time I went, their feta was very dry though (feta from the barrel at Mourelatos grocery store is better).

Chicken is also excellent at Jano (3883, boul. St-Laurent, Portuguese restaurant). Grilled calmar with their spicy chili oil sauce is a must-have here!

La Banquise is the place for tasting Poutine in Montreal as mentionned before by other members. They serve various types of poutine. The address is 994, rue Rachel Est, Montréal.

I found a blog dedicated to the poutine in Montreal with picture of the restos and the poutine :silly:. Please login or register to view links

Come back with a review on this site please!
I'd like to make a list of places I'd like to visit in terms of food for when I visit Montreal :)

Linda tried the Viande fumée (smoked meat sandwich) & frites maison (fries).
She said it was so good and she's afraid of getting fat if she keeps returning to this place!

A great poutine place..not in the montreal area unfortunately (although i heard 2011 they will open one in montreal)...is Smokes poutinerie in Mont-Tremblant pedestrian village. Over 30 kinds of poutine.

For the best egg rolls in Montreal go to Yangtze Restaurant at 4645 Van Horne, they have been around for over 50 years. Parking is a problem unless you find something on the side streets, you could take the Plamondon metro, just get off the Van Horne exit though. Another great item on their menu are the Ruby Foo style ribs, the rest of the stuff is just o.k., but the egg rolls are classic.

Just to let people know, Yangtze Restaurant had a fire recently and will be closed indefinitely.
