Dark picture of suspect in Montreal shootings emerges

    Thursday, September 14, 2006

    [IMG] [IMG]

Kimveer Gill, of Laval, north of Montreal is shown in this undated photo taken from a website. Gill has been identifed as the gunman in the Dawson College shootings.

His name was Kimveer Gill, alias Trench, and he was a Goth, part of a subculture that takes its cues from Gothic literature and horror movies.

At 25 years old, the Montrealer yesterday became famous as the man suspected of staging a live-action horror of his own: the shooting of more than a dozen students at Dawson College, one of them fatally, before he himself was shot dead by police.

Identified in news reports today as the shooter, Gill left behind an illustrated profile of himself on Vampire Freaks.com. "His name is Kimveer. You will come to know him as Trench," the 18-page profile begins.

"He is not a people person. He has met a handfull (sic) of people in his life who are decent. But he finds the majority to be worthless, no good, kniving (sic), betraying, lieing (sic), deceptive mother f--ckers. Work sucks. School sucks. Life sucks. What else can I say."

A crude aphorism follows: "Life is a video game, you gotta die sometime."
He then goes on to take a quiz, and the answers he gives to questions like "How f--cked up are you?" prompt this response from the site: "Wait there. We’re coming to get you now. We’ve called the guys in white coats (to) get you, so don’t commit a mass murder before they come."

The next quiz question asks "How truly depressed are you?" And from his answer, the site concludes: "Suicidally depressed. You are longing to kill yourself, you slit your wrists, not for fun, but because the world isn’t worth living in."

The site records that Gill last logged in four days ago, on Sept. 10 at 4:54 a.m. It says he became a member on the site – one of 595,705 members – on Nov. 14, 2005.

On the site, Gill answered a survey, too, in great detail.

Born: July 9, 1981, in Montreal.
    Heritage: Indian.
    Goal this year: "Stay alive."
    Most missed memory: "Being young."
    Been in love? Yes.
Been on drugs in the past month? Yes.
Want to die how? "Like Romeo and Juliet, or in a hail of gunfire."
Number of things I regret: "I regret nothing."
Asked to list his likes, these were some of his responses: "Germany, Marilyn Manson, First-Person Shooters."
Dislikes? There are many, filling two pages. But the first entry, in capital letters, pretty well sums things up: "The world and everything in it."

I think a combination of drugs and depression drove him to do what he did. :ermm:

He was the kind of guy who never fit in and on the site, he wrote something along the lines of "stop the bullying, stop judging people on the way they dress, etc." In a way, his thinking is right but the way he expressed it was sickening.

Eighteen-year-old Dawson student remembered for penchant for pink

MONTREAL -- Anastasia DeSousa looked pretty in pink. The 18-year-old student was caught in a hail of bullets Wednesday when a man dressed in black burst into Dawson College and started shooting randomly with a semi-automatic weapon.

Kimveer Gill killed DeSousa and wounded about 20 other people before finally shooting himself in the head after police had shot him in the arm.
De Sousa’s uncle said the pretty, dark-eyed teen dreamed of a career in international business.

“She was a good girl,” Pierre Hevey told CBC Newsworld. “She wanted to go to school. I don’t know exactly what she wanted to do in life but she wanted to travel, she travelled. She had good parents. She went to Europe, she went to Cuba, she went all over. She spoke three languages.”
He said Anastasia was the eldest child in her family.

“It’s hard for us. She was the first one. It took a long time to have the first one.

“She is good. She was good... She’ll always be here and here,” he said, pointing to his heart and his head.

At Royal Vale High School, where DeSousa went to school in 2003, she was remembered for her pleasant personality and involvement in student life.

In the school’s lobby, a lone pink rose lay beside a yearbook open to pictures of that year’s crop of Grade 10 students, DeSousa’s photo outlined in pink.

“What made her stand out in the minds of all the students that knew her was that she always managed to sneak some pink on her uniform, whether it was pink socks or whatever,” said John Roumeliotis, the school’s principal.

    “She loved the colour pink.”

A sheet of pink cardboard in the school’s lobby was filled with condolences from the student body.

“I know I had never met you before,” reads one. “But I heard wonderful things about you. R.I.P.”

“We will miss you,” reads another, written in a teenager’s messy scrawl. “This was fate that should not have happened.”

Dawson College was the scene of a similar impromptu memorial Thursday, as well-wishers dodged a phalanx of media to leave flowers metres from where the shooting started.

DeSousa was originally thought to be among the nearly 20 victims rushed to Montreal-area hospitals, and her mother reportedly pleaded frantically with hospital workers for information about her daughter.

But DeSousa never made it out of the school. Like her darkly clad assailant, she was pronounced dead on the scene.

It was several hours before investigators removed her body from Dawson College.

Royal Vale plans to hold a commemoration ceremony for their former student next week. Students are each being asked to donate $2 to charity and to dress in pink.

i agree with you...people bully and pick on people for the most stupid reasons and dont actually realize how much it can affect ppl
and most of the ppl they pick on probably already have a million things to worry about and don't need a bunch of immature losers to make their lives worse. I know that was obviously the wrong thing for him to do but it bugs me how after things like this happen the media and everyone will call the ppl that do this a monster and things like that when really it's their kids or friends w/e that drove them to doing it
