Hey all, I will be stopping by Montreal in a week after 3months of intensive field work. My hair has grown so much since last cut them. I wanted to cut them once I arrived in Montreal but I have no idea of where in Montreal downtown. Can anybody recommend me a good, stylish, somewhat moderately pricey hair salon where I can a great and stylish haircut? Preferably for Japanese/Asian hair please. Thanks a lot.

The best salon I've been to is by far Tonic Salon Spa, it's located at 3613 St.Laurent (corner of Prince Arthur). The salon and spa uses and sells Aveda and guinot products.

    Hey!
We should post places that we like, prices, and what not about where we like to get our hair done, make up, eyebrows, and anything else beauty related here!

Does anyone know a good place to get eyebrows threaded instead of waxed?

    Maybe Judy IS Judy...hehehhe

I just got my nails done at Ongles Farrah in St. Eustache. She does all the different gels, and did a great job. It's between $25 and $50 depending on what you have done.

Hi There is a good place to have your eyebrows threaded. Its called Dee's beauty salon and they are famous for eyebrow threading. I always go there to have my eyebrows done. There are three of them to go to but the one on Cote-Vertu is the best one:

I went for the japanese straightening there, and i would only partially recommend it -- if you are willing to spend over 250$ (i had long hair so it costed me extra) and if you are willing to burn 8 hours of your day just to fix your hair plus have 3 more days where you cant wash or do anything that will "deform" your straightstraaaaaightstraaaaaight hair (like wearing a hat) then go for it.

I personally thought it wasnt really worth it bc i felt gross for 3 days, and it was a gruesome 8 hrs and plus it really damaged my hair when the straightening effect wore off (6-12months).

For straightstraight hair, i now condition hair with dove (man that natural thang really does the job!) plus use sedu ionic ceramic hair straightener (which totally rocks btw no joke makes ur hair SOOooooOOo smooth -- check out folica.com)

AS FOR SALONS -- 100% TONIC SALON SPAAaaaaaAA its to die for they customize ur hair really the way you like it and they listen too ++

Are there any other recommendations for good asian hair salons? I was a long time customer of International Dream even before Christine moved downtown but now she has sold her salon and I don't know where to go. I've heard that the Korean place Q Coiffure Unisex on Ste Catherine near Guy next to the Pharmaprix is good but I'm hesitant to go there. You can see right inside as you walk by and I kind of don't want all of downtown to see me getting my hair cut and dyed. But if they're really really good, I guess I could be persuaded. If there are any other good places for asian hair, I'd really like to know because I've gone without a haircut for months and I'm getting desperate!

I have been looking around for inexpensive salons in Montreal and I was told that you could get a reely good cut and set job for less than $25 at Inter-dec lasalle college. Apparently, its done by students needing practise and the only downside is that it takes a lot of time since they want to be careful. Has anyone tried to get their hair cut at this place?
    Thnx
